Lavender International NDT provides quality NDT training courses for the engineering world

. Non-destructive testing is a process of testing a material in a way that will not harm it or affect its properties. Our NDT courses are accredited by the British Institute of NDT (BINDT) and will prepare the NDT technician to carry out NDT Testing in the work place. We train in 6 methods of NDT Magnetic Testing (MT); Penetrant Testing (PT); Ultrasonic Testing (UT); Visual Testing (VT); Radiography Testing (RT) and Eddy Current Testing (ET). The Lavender NDT Courses will usually be 1, 2 or 3 weeks in duration and meet NDT Level 1 and NDT Level 2 training hours for PCN, EN473, ISO9712 and Employer Based Programmes. We can provide NDT Level 3 training courses and the duration of these depends on the candidateseducation, experience and qualifications in non-destructive testing. Quotations can be provided if the NDT Technician supplies these details to our office.

The Company originally began its life as the J.D. Lavender Partnership in 1976, when Jack and Dave Lavender together with Joyce Lavender, set up to provide NDT services, in particular testing and training in NDT. The offices were provided from their home in Crosspool, Sheffield, and the working hours were long and hard. Jack Lavender became one of the few grandfathered ASNT Level 3s back in 1977, and Dave Lavender became one of the youngest ASNT Level 3s when he took the exams in the 1980s. In 1982, Steve Lavender joined with a remit to manage the business and plan for future projects. Within a few years the Company evolved from the partnership into Lavender International NDT Consultancy Services Ltd, and had taken on the first of their offices at Penistone Railway Station near Sheffield. Since then the rise of the company has been steady and sustained. Staff working for the company has grown to a highly qualified group, with ASNT and PCN Level 3 status. The NDT testing gradually shut down as it was clear the company should concentrate on training, examinations, and consultancy services.

The technical staff can cover all the major NDT methods, and have expanded to cover advanced techniques, such as Time of Flight Diffraction and Phased Array. We deliver Material Evaluation courses, including Hardness Testing, Conductivity Testing, Acid Etch, and Anodic Flaw Detection. We are course developing various new courses such as Eddy Current Arrays, Ultrasonic Corrosion Mapping, Ultrasonic of Composites and Computed Radiography.

The Company itself is ISO9001 accredited; a BINDT training school; accredited to the National Standard Investors in People; and is a PCN Accredited Qualifying Body (AQB). We are accredited by the British Accreditation Council and as an Employer provider National Skills Academy Nuclear. We provide training and examinations in NDT to companies and individuals around the world, and Level 3 services to a wide range of industries, namely Aerospace, Nuclear, Automotive, Defence, Oil and Gas, and Power. We are Corporate members of ASNT, BINDT and also the Canadian, Australian and French NDT Societies.

The strategic plan 2005 2015 incorporates international growth, as well as course development. We now have offices in Houston USA, Perth Australia and links to France, Greece, United Arab Emirates and South Africa.
