Lawyer Marketing Online- Why You Need It
In the middle of 2009, Google.com reached 9.5 BILLION searches per month
. That comes out to roughly 316 Million searches per day. This is important because if you were not on the first page of Google for any of those 316 Million searches each day, you don't exist.
No one is going to the yellow pages anymore.
Newspapers are going out of business left and right. Libraries have more people going to log into their email account, shop online, and play video games than they do for books, and you are using Westlaw or Lexis for your legal research. There is a very good reason for all of this- the information you find is faster, more relevant and more actionable.
If you are not ranking on the first page of Google, it is time to wake up and start figuring out why. Last month there were 246,000 searches for divorce lawyer, 201,000 searches for criminal lawyer and another 200,000 searches for personal injury attorney. The list goes on and on and we know that 62% of that traffic goes to the first 3 natural search results.
Search Engine Optimization or SEO is something that every attorney should be working on. In a down economy you must be actively marketing towards your most profitable demographic, SEO allows you to do that and gain a huge return on investment. How much are you spending on advertising in the yellow pages? How much on print advertising or local mailers or circulars? Radio and T.V.?
Online internet marketing allows you to focus on your most profitable clients while increasing the number of new cases that call you or ask for you to call them. How would you feel if every day another client called and asked you to take their case? How much would that constant stream of clients be worth to you? That is what online marketing can do for you.
There are some things to look out for and some best practices, I will cover them in other articles but for now here is a brief list.
