A ladder consist a set of steps or rungs vertical or inclined.

There are two types of ladders: rigid ladders and rope ladders. The rigid ladders can be leaned on a surface like a wall and rope ladders can be hung from the something high.

Rigid ladders split in two types: portable (most of them) and permanently attached to buildings.

Now the rigid ladders are made from: fiberglass (because don't lead the electricity when working with electrical wires) and aluminum most common leader because they are very light.

Rigid ladders are available as: extension ladder ("Telescopic ladder"), hook ladder, roof ladder, vertically rising ladder, cat ladder, folding ladder, orchard ladder, turntable ladder, bridge ladder, fixed ladder, platform steps and step ladder.

Three basic portable ladder you can find on market:

- Type I: with max load of 250 pounds and for heavy-duty uses (industrial)

- Type II: with max load of 225 pounds and for medium-duty uses (commercial)

- Type III: on household uses (max load - 200 pounds and for light- duty jobs)

About ladders - how to use:

- be sure you chose a perfect ladder for the job you plan to do

- inspect the ladder before use it, to be sure it don't have broken joints or cracks.

- you have the 1:4 ration (one foot away from the object leans against for each four feet of height where is the contact zone on top)

- the correct descend or ascend is with face to the ladder.

- be sure the both feet of the ladder are stable.

- on stepladders you must climb max to the second rung, and on straight or extension ladders the must climb max to the third rung.

- don't use an aluminum ladder when you work with electricity (use a leader made from fiberglass or wood).

- if you have finished your job put the ladder to his place don't leave it unattended, accidents can happen.
