. Leadership is a very important skill to have in a company. Leadership development program is very useful to give employees who are going to be promoted to gain new skills. It is also helpful to people who already in the managerial position to sharpen their skills.

A training need assessment needs to be conducted before a company select any development program. There are so many options of leadership programs to choose from. A company can choose to use a simple program that only takes a few hours, or more in dept programs that will take several days.

Most leadership development programs are conducted with seminars or trainings. A company might want to hold these events in their company or send their employees to seminars and trainings that are hold for public. Each method can be effective, depending on what the individual needs and what the company needs. You should also consider what types of seminars and trainings that are being held.

Leadership training comprises of developing skills in many areas such as work ethics, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, time management, and team dynamics. These skills are also important for every employee and not just the one selected to be managers or leaders. Therefore, providing your workers with similar trainings will be beneficial to your company.


Leadership training will be successful when the program contains these three core concepts. These are experiential learning, self efficacy, and visioning. The individual must be taught to focus on the learning process. Then you must develop their self efficacy in applying what they have learned. As visionaries, leaders must also know how to plan for the future.

Follow through program is also important, something that is sadly often neglected. Mere training is not enough. To cultivate the result of the training, the company must provide encouraging and supportive work environment so the trainees can apply what they have learned. Each person also has his or her own unique leadership style and the company should acknowledge and encourage this individual differences.

After training assessment is an important part in a company human resources policy. It is necessary to know if your leadership development program is effective or if it needs some tweaking. You should conduct your assessment thoroughly. People that should be involved in this assessment are the trainees and the people who work with them directly, such as their supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates.
