One of the first cries in any experience manager will put out when asked to present is, I'm not good enough. Well, get over yourself. Your audience doesnt want to see Obama, Bill Clinton or Tony Robbins up on stage. When you're presenting, you know who they want to see? They want to see you. And you know what? It doesnt matter if you have a couple of mistakes in your presentation, just dont get it completely wrong. And if you're feeling a bit nervous and you shuffle your notes a little bit too much, thats not going to be a big problem. Your audience is there for you.

And lets look at it from their perspective. What are they all thinking? Well, I'm glad its not me up there presenting. I'm no good at this. So when you stand up and present, youre a step ahead of them. Youre in the ballpark where they would probably like to be but for whatever reason, you dont want to go there. Your audiences are on your side; they dont want to see you fail. Why is that? Well, they dont want to sit through a presentation and watch someone die on stage. No audience member is ever going along and say, Geez, I really hope the speaker today is boring. I hope theyre bad; I hope they die. Your audience wants to see you; you dont have to be perfect. You just have to be you. And when you do that, youll find presenting becomes so much easier.
