Lean, Classic And Doubles - The 3 Different P90x Routines

The P90x program is a 90 day home exercise program that incorporates isometric and bodyweight exercises, yoga, martial arts, gymnastics, Pilates, and resistance training. For anyone who wants to know more about how it works, continue reading.

During the 90 days of the program you follow a schedule that tells you what workout DVD to do each day. The creators (Beachbody) decided to create three different schedules so that people could have the option to follow the schedule that best fits what they want to achieve. Each schedule is better suited for reaching certain goals.

The Classic schedule is the standard program that most people will likely follow. It contains around three resistance training workouts a week with cardiovascular workouts every other day. It is a good program for building strength and muscle.

For those that want a super intense workout that will give them a lot of cardio, the Doubles schedule is what they should follow. It is just like the Classic program, but it has an extra cardiovascular workout that is done in the morning. This means that on some days there are two workouts that must be done. The Cardio X P90x workout is done in the morning, and another workout is done in the evening. This is a tough schedule, and should only be done if there is enough time to fit two workouts in and if the person doing it is in good enough shape to handle the extra load.

Some people would rather focus more on either weight loss or doing cardio exercise than building muscle or doing resistance training. The Lean schedule appeals to those who would rather do more cardiovascular exercise than weightlifting. This program will still help you get stronger, but because it has more cardio than the Classic version, it will also help more with weight loss efforts.

Whatever you goal is, there is a schedule that will target it better. If you want to build strength, muscle, and speed, the Classic program is what you want. If you want to take your fitness or weight loss effort to a whole new level, doing two workouts a day in the Doubles schedule will help you get there. And, if you want to develop a leaner body and do more cardio and less weightlifting, than the Lean program is for you.
