Lean management practices and tools consist of lean management processes that make implementation achievable and assessments doable
. This gives room to improvement to the extent that these would become too ideal with nil waste.
Lean management processes involve the lean principles that are interconnected. The processes are in each step. These follow a definite sequence or flow. The five-step principles contribute to easier implementation of lean techniques, practices or tools and these are:
Identify the value with the customer in mind. This is generally topped by the quality of the product or services that come with reasonable price. This is very viable assuming that the waste will be negligible. It only appears easy but it is a challenge that most implementers frequently encounter.
Map the Value Stream (VS) once the values in the value stream or flow are identified. The ones referred with added value are the ones that are kept in a lean operation. These can be translated monetarily into profit. Those that push down the company are the waste or non-value that need to be eliminated.
Create the value and the processes flow. This consists of a series of steps that will bring the products to the customer. A flow that is tight will eliminate any waste in the process. The tighter it is, the less waste and the faster will be the addressing of customer needs.
If the process of flow is efficient and effective, the product will reach the customer. Demand is expected if the product is excellent. Let the customers make the pull demands. Avoid mass production in order to have more access to cash. Manufacture only what is pulled by the customer.
Continue with self-improvement in quest of perfection. When values are identified, value streams are delineated, demand pulls are created and met, the process will still go on and on in a cyclic manner. Flaws must be eliminated until all non-values or waste is eliminated.
Lean management processes involve mental approach and simplicity. It will not cost companies and is applicable for small and large companies. Lean management processes lets a company embark on a journey of self-development.
