Of course, a pre-term labor is, as its name suggests, a labor which does not reach the full-term. Obviously, the earlier the baby is born the less chance it has of surviving outside the womb.

Feeling pain is an indication and if you suspect that there is a problem, you should consult your doctor. Women often notice that, when approach 37 weeks, they experience fake labor pains. These pains are known as Braxton-Hicks contractions. They are common and, most importantly, harmless. Therefore, although women should take any unusual or severe pain seriously, it is a good idea to remain calm.

Of course, there is a small risk to every pregnant woman. However, you may be more likely to experience a pre-term labor if you are in a vulnerable position. Obviously, all parents do their utmost to ensure a healthy baby, but if you are concerned about your pregnancy, be sure to voice these worries to your doctor.

Causes

As mentioned above, women can be at risk of a pre-term labor in any situation while carrying baby, but it may be helpful to understand the probable causes and symptoms. Every pregnant woman needs to get as much information as she can about pre-time labor.

Let's start by examining a typical labor. As labor begins, the cervix opens and the uterus contracts. As it continues, it will thin to ready for delivery. At one point, you will notice your "water" is breaking and the baby starts to settle into the birth canal.

Naturally, recognizing the symptoms of a pre-term labor is very important. Signs may include contractions and abdominal pain. However, these signs are also seen during normal pregnancy. So, a little further investigation may be needed. If you experience pains, fever or you are bleeding from the vagina, you be experiencing a premature birth, so it is essential to consult your doctor immediately.
