Search engine optimization will ensure your website shows up in the search results for relevant terms that will bring you traffic that is interested the type information your website is about. Targeting the right traffic and getting them to the website is half the battle. As noted, the best looking website will not serve a purpose if nobody is able to find it.

These days, just using a website as a means of pasting the website address on your mailers or other marketing pieces is not enough, a website needs to show up in the search engines to have an adequate amount of traffic. The more traffic the better just like in a brick and mortar store, it takes a certain amount of traffic before a purchase is made so the more people that come through the better.
