These are the Masaai people who dwell on the south west part of the country. They are Nilotic speakers. According to there oral traditions, there God Engai made cattle to drop from heaven and made them the custodians. As a result, they own all the cattle in the world and they steal them from other communities as they believe they are the only people who are entitled to them. Masaai people are nomadic pastoralists. They move around with their livestock looking for green pasture and water.

As they move about, they cause a lot of conflict with the people living in the places they want to graze their cattle. Recently, there has been a lot of conflict between them and them and the wildlife authorities as they encroach in the forest lands. They have since been banned from grazing in such places. A person's importance in the community is graded depending on how many cattle he owns. The more you have, the richer you are counted to be.

The Masaai have become the most famous community in Kenya because of there culture. It is the only community that is trying hard to hold on to their culture. Tourists come from all over the world to experience it. They also make some artifacts that have become very popular all over the world. These artifacts and jewel are sold in all major markets internationally. People come to this community to experience their life, dressing and food. Living as a Masaai even for a day is a thrill.
