Learn Affiliate Marketing: Why It's Important For Newbies To Learn How To Build Their Own Websites
To learn affiliate marketing is easy
To learn affiliate marketing is easy. To learn to be patient with yourself "while" you learn affiliate marketing is the hard part. One of the things that stumps those new to this way of making money online is getting a website.
Affiliate Marketing for Beginners: Two Reasons to Learn Basic Web Design
First, let me say, you can become an affiliate marketer without a website/blog. But if you're going to be in this game for the long haul and get to be super successful, you're going to at some point need a site. Following are the two main reasons why.
(i) Develop Your Own Products
When most newbies start out, they're happy to promote the products and services of others and collect their nice little commissions. But, where the real money is in affiliate marketing is being a product developer. And, when you develop products, you need your own website for that product to drive traffic to it so you can get sales.
Imagine if, once you learn the affiliate marketing ropes, you start developing products. Are you going to want to pay someone to develop a new site for you every time you put out a new product? Although there are tons of cheap web designers out there, your website is your image. It can make or break a sale.
There are so many scams online that most people hesitate to purchase from sites that are less than professional. Hence, having someone do "a professional web design" for you can be expensive.
The kicker is though, it's super easy to learn how to do simple, professional, clean sites that bring in traffic and sales. I know, I have several minisites that I designed myself that do quite well at pulling in traffic and sales.
(ii) Site Maintenance
Another thing you will learn in affiliate marketing is that you will constantly need to tweak your sites, ie, change a price of a product here; package Product A with Product B; fix a typo; update it with more recent information; etc.
Web design firms charge from a low of $35 per hour on up to $250 or more per hour for even the simplest changes. And, they have minimums. For example, their terms might be $35/hour (two hour minimum). This means that whether you're having them fix one misspelled word or input a host of changes, you could still be paying whatever their minimum is for an hour or a few hours of work.
Ouch!
So, when you learn affiliate marketing, be sure to make knowing how to build a simple website/blog part of your agenda. In the long run, it will save you so much time and money.
Affiliate Marketing Websites Tip: When It's Ok to Have Someone Build a Site/Blog for You
When you first start to learn affiliate marketing, it's okay to pay someone to do a site so you can "hit the ground running." But eventually, it's definitely something you're going to want to learn how to do yourself so you can have complete control over your "online virtual empire."
