Learn All The BBQ Secrets That Will Make You Look Like A Pro
Don't you just love BBQ's? There is nothing better than the feeling of sunshine and some good music playing, and having your family and friends around. This is all great but what's the point if you don't know how to really do the BBQ. Well that's not a problem because I am about to tell you a few BBQ secrets that will improve your BBQ, and leave your guests licking their lips and wanting more. These BBQ Secrets are very basic and easy to do.
What you are going to need for this exercise:
1) Firstly you will need a griller obviously it doesn't matter if its Gas or just a Wood Burning Grill, although I personally prefer wood as it gives my BBQ a nice smell and leaves the meat with a nice smoky woody taste.
2) If using a Wood Burning Grill then you will need charcoal, and fire lighters or lighting fluid. If using a gas griller there is no need for charcoal and lighting fluid although some people like to use briquettes on their gas grillers, this is to help evenly distribute the heat but this is not a necessity.
3) You will need your meats such as chicken, t-bone, pork and any other food you wish to BBQ. You will also need your sauces and additional spices.
4) You are going to need your utensils such as Grilling Tongs, Basting brushes, A Grill Brush, cooking oil and a BBQ fork and knife.
Preparing the Fire
This is if you are using a Wood Burning Grill. Firstly you are going to stack your charcoal in a pyramid shape in the center of your griller. You are then going to use your lighter fluid and soak the charcoal in it. You are then going to let the lighter fluid soak in to the charcoal for about a minute or two. Using a long BBQ lighter set fire to the charcoal and leave it to burn for about 30 minutes. After doing all this you are going to use your BBQ tongs to spread out the charcoal evenly. Most people like to add some pieces of dry wood on top of the charcoal to maintain the heat. If your griller can accommodate this then I recommend doing it but if your griller is smaller, then you can use chipped wood. Make sure that the heat measures around 300 degrees F to 400 degrees F.
Preparing the griller
You are going to need make sure the grill is clean, and doesn't have any old burnt food stuck to it. Now you are going to use your grill brush to clean it. Most people like to burn off the old food, to do this you will need to raise the grills surface temperature so that the old food is burnt off. You will then use your grill brush to scrape of the remaining residue. Now that the grill is clean you will need to make sure that the grill will be big enough to hold the meat you are cooking. You wouldn't want to be cooking ten steaks and only be able to fit 4 at a time, because the meat should be served all at once and you wouldn't want to have some hot steaks and some cold steaks. Next after your griller has reached the desired cooking temperature, you are going to take some cooking oil and apply it to the grill evenly using the basting brush. This is to prevent the meat from sticking to the griller, you wouldn't want your meat to be sticking and getting torn apart while you are grilling it.
Checking the temperature
The next step is to check if the temperature of the griller is correct, remember that we are grilling our meat so that it can be crispy on the outside and nice and moist on the inside. To check the temperature you should be able to hold your hand about an inch from the grill for a period of 5 seconds, if it burns you then you know it's got to be left a little longer to cool down.
Its time to start grilling OK now that the griller is all set up and at the right temperature its time to start grilling our meats.
