You don't have to buy a high definition television to enjoy watching TV and learning at the same time
. You can have a small, older television as long as there is a subtitles option. If you don't feel like working to follow the show or reading while watching TV, there are also Spanish channels on satellite TV that you can watch to take a break from trying to follow the subtitles. You won't learn English instantly but you will realize that you pick up phrases that are used often in conversations throughout shows and, before you know it, you'll be speaking more English than you were before you spent weeks in your house watching TV. Plus it's an entertaining way to learn a new language because you'll probably pick up a few bad words that a typical teacher or foreign language class would not want to teach you!
