Learn How to Play the Guitar - Here is the Best Method to Learn This Wonderful Instrument

Learning how to play the guitar is something that many people only dream about. Yes, anyone can pick up the instrument and learn a few chords. What I mean by learning how to play is being able to walk into a room, pick up the guitar and play well enough that people pay attention! There is just something about the instrument and those who can play it well, that captivates people. If you are ready to learn to play guitar, then here is the best way to do it.

There are many different methods that many people try when attempting to learn a musical instrument. The most common one is to go and get lessons from an instructor. While this seems the most practical way to make this happen, unfortunately it can be somewhat harmful.

The problem with taking lessons from an instructor is the student will be forced to adapt to the instructors way of teaching. Just because someone is good at an instrument, doesn't mean that they are a good teacher of it. This is many times what happens when people take lessons in music stores or from ads in the paper. Many times, these people just teach to make extra money.

The other problem is the speed that a student learns. Everybody learns at a different pace and it is extremely important that the fundamentals are taught properly. If a teacher try's to push a student before they are ready, it could either make the student uncomfortable or it can lead to bad habits.

That is why the best way to learn how to play guitar is by a combination of instructor and video.

By having everything on video, you can go back and rewind something you might have missed. You can go back and watch the session again, repeat problem areas and then move on when you feel comfortable.

Another good reason a video course is so great is because it allows the student to be comfortable in their surroundings. Many times people get in front of an instructor and get to nervous to play. So they spend the whole lesson trying to get over being nervous instead of learning what is being taught. Comfort level is huge when learning an instrument.

If the course is set up properly, there are "test" points that let a student know when their skill level is at the required stage to move on. This is essential in my opinion because it gives the learner a "ending point" for each particular lesson and they know when they can move on.

Having play along music is another big positive to having a video course. It's always nice to be able to play along with something that is tailored to what you have just learned.
