Learn Simple SEO Tips and Don't Get Screwed By the Man

First, a little background. I work as a consultant and specialist in internet marketing. Right now I'm consulting for small to medium business as well providing SEO services for a corporate web design firm in the Portland area. Because of this experience I can vouche that these companies are sucking your wallets dry - and its not right.

I didn't begin my career with online marketing in mind, in fact I graduated with a degree in PR. Of course this followed 5-7 years spent as banker. Like many in my shoes, it was only due bad luck, good timing and desperation for income that I ended up in the world online marketing.

I could continue with my sob story, but I'll save that for another time. I know everyone has misfortune eventually. When I was at the point where no one else could help me, I had to teach myself something I could do to make money of ANY kind. I was laid off three months before my son was born and NOT having income, was NOT a choice.

The great thing about learning web marketing is you can learn pretty much everything you need for free online. However, the net is also where you find the most online marketers who are 'selling' you the information. The tricky thing about this some of them are right. I've read tons of articles, loads of e-books, 100s of blogs, endless webinars AND bought a wide array of products, services, and software. Yes, that's right I bought from those dang people. There's no need to reinvent something, when its already been done by others. Right?

Thanks to all my trial and errors I was able to get to the bottom of what really works and what was pure crap. Before long, I had a team of employees (outsourced) consisting of php programmers, copy writers, and web designers working 40 hours a week and it cost me less than 1,000. I narrowed down the effective products and kept up with the ever-changing Google search laws - I can get anyone on page one. I was the foremost expert in mobile marketing in my area. I had a solid base in place, but unfortunately I had a run of personal and family issues that kept me from running the business how I felt it should be. I actually enjoy working for other companies and consulting from time to time - its the best way to test ideas and keep learning. I needed time to re-group and tweak my business model.

So, for now I'm the chief internet marketing manager for a nationwide web design and SEO firm. Even though, I make a living in this business, I am flaberergasted at the ridiculous fees and impossible demands. Of course, this just fuels me to amp up my new business model, which by the way, is helping you get your online marketing business off the ground. Now, I'm not selling a system... But I do have loads of tools, trainings, and products that have taught me beginning and advanced practices for IM and search engine optimization. I'll tell you which ones really work and which ones are complete crap I hope you'll discover your true passions and God-given talents along the way.
