Learning Japanese - What's So Hard About Learning The Japanese Language ?

With regards to learning a language, it can be difficult getting to a fluent level

. There are all kinds of variables at play that make this undertaking a troublesome challenge especially when most people wants to be speaking in next to no time at all. In terms of learning Japanese there are numerous issues to consider. This short article will talk about what is difficult about learning the Japanese language.

On a general level, studying another language is always likely to be tough for 2 reasons.

The 1st is that you'll be already fluent in one language - your mother tongue. So this can be a crutch that you'll continually lean on whenever you get into difficulty or frustration at learning Japanese.

The next reason is that you are likely to learn Japanese in a very different way to the way you learned your mother tongue so you don't have any 'experience' at learning languages as such. Learning your native language was a mostly unconscious task.

Learning the Japanese language will likely be an extremely conscious act where you've got to grasp how the foreign language functions before you can actually speak it. This is certainly the difficult or frustrating part of learning that is in front of you subject to the training method you decide on.

The immersion method is a replication of the way you learn your native tongue but it is not always a realistic option for most people and can be quite an scary method for some people.

Doing a typical 'course' - like written text, audio and video resources is a more conventional way to master a second language however it works on the premise of telling you how the language works and then teaching you how to speak. This may take time and can be frustrating or just bewildering if you have no aptitude for the dynamics of language.

On a more specific level, Japanese is difficult for English speakers for a variety of reasons. 2 of the most obvious are the radical difference of the letters or alphabet and then the grammar.

The Japanese language uses three scripts to denote letters, words and writing. These are kanji, hiragana, and katakana. There is also rmaji that uses the Latin alphabet and is designed to be more western friendly. On the whole learning the Japanese letters or symbols in kanji, hiragana, and katakana will put years on your study. You almost certainly need to learn to speak before you can write in these symbols.

Also Japanese grammar is quite different from English. For instance there are no definite articles after nouns. The word order is different. As an example the subject noun comes after the verb in Japanese whereas it comes before in English. This is not a big deal as French and Spanish have a similar word order difference but there are more nuances to Japanese grammar that can make it difficult to learn.

With this said, it's on no account impossible to learn Japanese to a fantastic level and become fluent, provided you put the effort in and use a good learn Japanese method.
