Learning Strategies To Learn Spanish
Here are various learning strategies that could help you out while learning Spanish
, even if you are already an adult and think that it is too late to learn a second language. Have the drive to learn the language. Without this, you would not even attempt to learn anything else.
Next, be interested in the language and the culture. It is not enough just to learn the language and let it go at that. It is best to understand the people and the culture so that you would have a concrete idea on the hows and the whys of the language.
Third, read. Tons and tons of reading. It is not enough to just listen and speak Spanish, it is best to read books, magazines, poems, anything written in Spanish in order to get the cadence, the patterns and the subtle play of the words that make it such a great language in the first place. It also helps in building an extensive vocabulary.
Fourth, speak the language constantly and consistently. Try to speak the language as often as you can. Some people who quickly learned the language had this trick. They would speak the words out in Spanish first then say the same thing in their native tongue. Basically, they try to interpret themselves in their everyday routines. If they ask for coffee, they say it in Spanish first then immediately say it in English.
Fifth, converse in Spanish with other people who speak in Spanish. Books don?t talk back generally so it is advisable to seek people who speak the language and converse with them. The conversation will spark the neurons in the language center of the brain to work faster and bring out all the stock grammar and make it come out of your mouth. You may make a mistake, that?s a definite, but no one will laugh, they will correct. Eventually, conversing in Spanish would be second nature.
Sixth, find opportunities to speak Spanish. Talk to children, talk to dogs, talk to grocery owners. In short, seek the opportunity where you are forced to speak Spanish. If you find it hard to explain yourself in Spanish, try anyway and find a way to speak it in Spanish as you go along.
Finally, integrate the Spanish language into your life by thinking in the language. It is not just enough to speak it; you have to live the language. That way learning Spanish becomes understanding in the language. Learn from mistakes, find out why it went wrong then work at it until you get it right. As they say, good learning is 95% motivation and the rest is left to chance.
