Learning The Right Way To Train Your Puppy

When it comes to pet caring, and particularly dog breeding, one of the most gratifying activities we can practice is the training of our new puppy.

There are no big differences between the way we will train an adult dog and a puppy dog. Nonetheless, there are some particular but crucial aspects that we must consider to get the desired success when we will train a puppy.

One of the first things we should bear in mind is the likeness between a puppy and a baby. We could not pretend that an infant is going to learn a great deal of different and complicated things overnight, even if we were the best teachers in the world. The same is with puppies: they are baby dogs and require some time until they adapt to their new life and to perceive what they should do and what they should not.

Therefore, this will be our first rule to help our little dog to get along with its new life: we must be patient and tolerant with him or her. That doesn't mean that we are not correcting their bad dispositions at all of course not! But we should adopt a kind and gentle but firm position when doing that. Why? Because, if we reproof our puppy or treat it badly, shouting at him/her and moving violently, the little dog will interpret that as a sign for us being their enemies and not their friends. That would be very negative for our future companionship. For this reason, we will correct our puppy with soft movements and with a gentle tone of voice. Besides, we must always remember to show our contentment when the puppy acts properly by fondling it and playing with it for a little while.

Keeping our training practices brief and simple. Another very important tip regarding our puppy obedience training is the necessity for keeping our prctices brief and, principally, easy. Our puppy must learn progressively, starting with the easiest behavior habits. Again, if we are always tolerant and kind to him or her, our puppy will learn sooner and happier. We should not strain our puppy with long training activities either; it is better to spend little spans of time, so that it will learn without discovering that it is "school time".

Lastly, we will build a friendly relationship with our puppy. We should combine cushy training activities with some playing with our dog. This will intensify a balanced relationship based on confidence and so our puppy will always be willing to remain with us and carry out our bidding.

If we take all these tips into account and put them into practice, the result will be a very nice relationship between our dog and us. That will cause our dog to become one more member of the family that everyone will love and care.
