Learning The Way To Leadership That Gets Result
Setting and clarifying expectations are two of many skills leaders need to be most successful. Since leadership is a complex set of skills, many leaders around the world are continually improving their skills as a member of The Remarkable Leadership Learning System - a one skill at a time, one month at a time approach to becoming a more confident and successful leader. Erasers give us a safety net, and remind us that the pressure isn`t as great as we might think. Think about it, if you do a math assignment in pen, the pressure is on to get the answers right the first time. This is not an excuse for doing poor work, but having an eraser does take off some of the pressure. The team did an event something like this last fall (with the video and everything), and it went pretty well. During that event they discovered some technical things they wanted to improve - like better sound quality, capturing everything in new ways, bringing in more live guests, and stuff like that.
Take responsibility. No one can do this for you. Not your parents. Not your spouse. Not your best friend. And not your employer. All of these people might be able to support you. However, none of them can do it for you. If you wait for your employer to offer assistance or to pay for the workshop, you might be waiting a long time. Uncalendar some of your time. OK, so uncalendar may not be a word, but you know what I mean! If you want to recharge and create new energy in your life, you must change your pace and your plans. Take a few things off your calendar, or simply schedule more time for yourself rather than everyone and everything else. This isn`t a selfish act. But remember, you love the place/situation you are in. So, generally speaking, regardless of my skills of persuasion, you probably aren't that interested. After all what you have now is pretty great. And why should you change anything, because you are completely satisfied and comfortable in the current setting.
The importance of vision. How can we arrive at any destination if we don`t know what it is? Contestants on the show often say "I`m not ready to go home yet" (most weeks at least one contestant leaves "the ranch" where all contestants live while they pursue their weight loss full time). Look for good. Things in your life or in your job might not be great right now; passion low or nonexistent.
