The other day, I saw my son, a cute 10-year-old boy, seated patiently in front of our computer for more than two hours. I popped over to have a look, thinking that he was probably playing the newest computer game but was shocked to find that he was actually changing the design on his blog. He told me casually that his teacher had taught them website design during their computer lesson.

I was feeling pretty ashamed since at the grand age of 36, my knowledge of building websites was basically a big fat zero. I decided to spend the next few weeks studying how to build a website. Initially daunting, I actually felt intrigued by it and am proud to say I have just completed building my first website.

One of the first things that I learnt was that the website design should not be too distracting. In addition, it was important that the text should be easily readable. This means that the font size should not be too small and the font color should not clash with the background color.
