LED Lights as a Green Method to Replace Incandescent Lights.

LED Light Emitting Diode have improved enough to transition from being a source of ambient lights to a replacement for incandescent as well as other standard forms of lighting. Recently I wrote in the technical solutions to questions on my website for solar power outdoor lights that: "Solar LED lights were great for exterior use but are not close to changing incandescent bulbs for household lighting." Well my present reading and research have proved me incorrect.

As with many facts in life today: new improvements have changed the outlook on the effective use of LED. LED Light Emitting Diode have developed enough to transition from being sources of ornamental lights to a replacement for incandescent and also other traditional forms of lighting. There are now LED light bulbs, LED Fluorescent replacement bulbs, LED torches, LED protection lights, LED traffic lights, LED under closet lights, LED lighting for commercial Applications, LED Job light, LED headlights, intelligent LED that help to cut costs in warehouses as well as industrial buildings, vending machines, food freezers, retail lighting and solar power LED light.

Energy Star just stated that LED cut down energy usage by 75% and will last more than 5 times longer than incandescent, and 2 times longer than fluorescent lighting. This is due to of the lowered energy used by the solar LED light powered outside, using the desired solar plates which are small and could be set directly on the solar light fixture.

The LED lighting innovation and setting the period for incandescent light bulbs to become outdated. Led lights provide an energy helpful, ecologically friendly (by decreasing carbon emissions) lighting product. Currently the City of Des Moines is retrofitting city highway lights and car parking lot lights with LED to save energy costs. Initial cost is higher than standard bulb substitute. Yet the final gains in energy use and longer life of LED bulbs are substantial up to 50% of the yearly budget for these lights. These cost benefits are anticipated to provide a return of investment in three years.

US Department of Energy review of LED: states that widespread use of LED over the next 20 years can save 120 billion dollars in electrical power at today's rates or the equivalent to 24 new energy power plants and reduce greenhouse gas pollution levels by 246 million metric tons of co2. That's a big cost savings figure for lighting that is only 7 % of the electrical use of businesses and residences.

Actual good results as to whether LED change incandescent depends on factors such as user acceptance, and potential new technology advancement that competes with LEDs advantages over the incandescent light bulb.

It is now a real possibility LED Light Emitting Diode have developed enough to transition from being sources of ambient lights to a replacement for incandescent along with other traditional forms of lighting. Nowadays there are LED light bulbs sold at Big Box Retailers. LED lights are excellent source of light and a great sustainable product due to it's low voltage and no/low heat generation. Go sustainable with LED lighting. Think solar LED for every yard and outdoor safety and decorative lighting.
