At Wimbledon, home of the annual tennis championships, the tour includes a look in the interactive museum including the new cinema. The cinema features a 200 screen that immerses the viewer into the world of The Championships by showing a film about the science of tennis. Filming took place during the 2005 Championships on the Centre Court using a special panoramic rig that used 5 cameras at the same time. The result is a film that can be frozen and rotated around the field of action at any time. Using this technique, the film focuses on 20 different aspects of the match and shows viewers how players' bodies and equipment are affected during the course of a professional tennis match.

Perhaps cricket is your thing, for you there is a tour of Lords Cricket Ground. The Lords Tour takes you behind the scenes at The Home of Cricket. You will be guided by an expert guide and begin in the Pavilion where you walk through the legendary Long Room. Here it is easy to imagine yourself striding out to bat at a Test Match like so many legends of the game before you. As you follow in the footsteps of the greats to the Dressing Rooms, housing the famous 'honours boards', you will have the chance to sit on the seats usually occupied by the England team, open the balcony doors, and experience the players' view of the Ground. In the MCC Museum, home to the Ashes Urn and over 400 years of cricket history, you explore the treasure house of Lords - The Home of Cricket. Around the Ground you can take in the magical atmosphere of Lords and the award winning architecture of the Media Centre. Inside this futuristic building you will see where Sky Sports, Test Match Special and the written press report on the game.

There are many tours of football stadia in London and indeed all over the country, too many to describe here but at your favourite teams ground you may get to walk along the players' tunnel, have a look around the dressing rooms, see the press conference area and the director's box. There is also usually some sort of museum that charts the history of the team, displays memorabilia of famous players and has on show the many cups and trophies won throughout the career of the club.

Im not really much of a sportsman myself, I prefer more sedate hobbies such as walking and fishing. I have to admit though that what I have found out from writing this piece has put me in the mood to join in one of these tours and see what all the fuss is about.
