. There is a lot of hard work that goes into practicing and performing any type of dance steps, but the feeling of satisfaction and pleasure makes it worthwhile to any true dancer.

Every dancer has to start as a beginner at some point, and it is at this point they will need to be kitted out appropriately for dancing practice sessions. The outfits needed will differ depending upon the type of dance they decide to follow, but a common rule of thumb for any beginner is to not buy anything too expensive until they are sure they want to continue with it for a longer period of time. One common piece of dance clothing is the leotard, as this fits the dancer's body like a second skin and allows them to move around freely whilst keeping their modesty covered. Leotards are available in large variety of sizes and colours, although black is one of the most common colours and typically used for practice sessions.

As a dancer progresses through the stages of their chosen dance, learning more skills and becoming more proficient in their role, they will more than likely choose to take part in dance recitals and performances where possible. This may be through their dance teacher or school, or independently, but however they choose to audition for dance shows, they will need to turn up with the right dance clothes to suitably impress those in charge of choosing the roles. Additionally, they will need to ensure that they are wearing dance kit that allows them to show their skills off to the best advantage. Once again, choosing to wear a leotard may be the best option here, especially if the role is for a ballet performance. The dancer in question may decide to take along a few leotards in different colours and designs so they can choose which one best suits the role when they arrive; this shows good planning and may impress the judges further. This also means if they are auditioning for more than one part in the show they will have different leotards to wear per audition.

Once a dancer wins a role to take part in a dance performance, they will then have to be fitted for the dance clothing they will wear on the nights the show is performed to an audience. It may be their responsibility to pay for this, or the company hosting the show may pay, but either way these clothes need to be of good quality and fit in with the rest of the dancers in the recital. Leotards are often worn in conjunction with other accessories such as tutus and skirts for dance shows; this is a look that has actually been capitalised by the modern fashion scene also. There are many designs of leotards that are available for performances; cap sleeved, camisole and tank are just three of the styles available. These can of course also be used for practice, but many prefer to stick with simpler designs unless in a performance.
