Lessons Learned At A Annual Meeting At Hotel United-21

Its very important to realize your mistake before you apologize

, if you just apologize for the sake of apologizing, it doesnt make sense. You concise should always be clear, and it shouldnt be on other persons decision. Everyone learn from mistakes, some from their own mistakes and some from others mistake. So committing a mistake is not a big deal but accepting the mistake and his consequences is a big task. It takes a big heart to do such things and I was present at one such scene wherein a person could have lost all his reputation. It was a company annual meeting at Hotel United-21, Thane. Since we had good business relations with Sudhir Moravekars company, PUL, we manage to host our annual meeting at its hotels and resorts. For the last few years, we have been conducting our meetings in their hotels which are even spread in some of the most magnificent locations across India. One of our business development units even hosted one of our international clients in their hotel in United States of America.

Now coming back to the topic, as we were discussing about companys growth and stuff, one of our directors started his vision about the company for the next year. He had all his data ready and was giving his vision. There was a lot of error in his data and we were like confused how he is describing the growth of the company. To be true we didnt had an enormous year in business front, as we lost two major contracts and already available clients didnt helped us earned more. The way he was going on with the stats which were obviously wrong we were all surprised. It was only after other directors interrupt him about the stats he stopped and re checked it. A small chuckle with a humorous sentence sent all of us in to splits. He said thankfully we saved the company earning millions of rupees. It was a humorous quote which was followed by apologizing and even he citing old age as the reason. He even decided to quit the post as he was not in good health and also his such mistake will do company more harm than good. It was a terrible thing as he was one of the finest leaders we ever had. It was coz of his vision that company managed to grow in the previous decade. Some of us asked him to reconsider his decision and think again before putting his paper down. He agreed to it and later again we continued with the meeting.

After the meeting, I managed to have a word with him. I asked why he was so adamant on quitting the job for one mistake. He smiled and replied that if he hadnt quit himself, everyone would have demanded his resignation. I realized it was his bailout idea and I was really impressed with his skill. I learned human tendency that whenever you feel that people will throw you down, before they do it make sure that you yourself agree to go down. Only then people will sympathies with you and agree to let you in the same place.
