One trap to avoid falling into with article marketing however is to not submit the same article to hundreds article bases as this will be viewed negatively by search sites such as Google as it will be seen as duplicate content and will negatively affect a websites page rank. This is especially important to be aware of if a business is trying to build a strong website or web presence.

A huge benefit of doing online article marketing is that many article directories allow users to place back- links to their website throughout their articles. This is a great way to drive traffic to a firm's site without having to pay for banner advertisements on websites. However, most article directories limit the number of back-links a site can have or provide 'no-follow' back-links (links which the search engines do not take into account in the calculation of PR when crawling the sites they are on). It is possible to purchase a subscription from the article directory sites that allow more back-links, though most firms do not pursue this option.
