Let's set up wireless connectivity without taking help from others

You might get information on how to setup wireless connectivity from your computer manufacturer or your Internet Service Provider (ISP). But can you do it by yourself and help others. Is it possible? YES. With some technical support, you can set up wireless connectivity alone. Let's see how you can do it.

Information: the ISP provider will set up the router for you and they will provide you the SSID and the WEP key to set up the wireless connection. Don't worry about the SSID and the WEP key. You don't have to know what this is, although it is always good if you have information on it.

How to Set Up Wireless Connectivity?

a) Make sure your computer has Wi-Fi card inbuilt. But it is not necessary that your computer must have an integrated Wi-Fi card.

b) Now we just have to install the driver for the Wi-Fi card. Just put the CD in to the drive and then follow the on screen instructions to install the driver. After completing the installation process, your computer will show new hardware found.

c) Now double click on the Wi-Fi connection. You will find that on the system tray of your computer.

d) Click on Properties

e) Select the Wireless Network tab

f) Click on the "Add" button at the bottom of the dialog if your Wi-Fi network isn't in the "Available Networks" section.

g) Click on Configure when you see your network SSID in the available network.

h) Now enter your SSID and WEP key that you got from your ISP.

i) Now click on Start and then choose your network. You will find the name of the router that you are using. You can rename that as well. Now select that and click on Connect. Now you will be able to connect to the internet.

Don't worry, if you follow the steps you must be able to connect to the internet without taking help from others. However, if you still can't do it, you probably need to contact a help desk specialist.
