It's over! They have left and everything you have done to bring about reconciliation has been rebuffed. You have tried everything that you know how to do but it has not worked and you are emotionally drained. You have lost your pride and self esteem in the process and now for the sake of your sanity you need to know how to let go. So here are some clues on letting go off a relationship?

1. Accept that the relationship is over! They are not coming back and they do not want you to be a part of their life. Whatever went down between the two of you, they have moved on with their life without you and that's the way they want it. I agree that this is really hard, especially if you still really like them but this is where you must start in the process of letting go off a relationship. If you cannot accept that it's over then you cannot let go off the relationship.

2. Take control of your thought life and stop dreaming about the day they will come back to you. Put an end to all the day dreaming that only makes the longing for them worse. I know it makes you feel better, a form of escape to a fantasy world where you can control things but you need to realize that this will not make them come back to you.

3. Get involved is something that is exhilarating and legal so that your mind and time can be filled with something other than your ex. I know you don't feel like it and you prefer just mopping around but you must get out of this zone. As they say a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step'. Take the initial, hard step. Force yourself to do the activity that you have chosen to do and keep doing it, (and this is critical) even when you don't feel like it. The first few times will be extremely hard but you must keep at it and with time you will begin to catch yourself actually enjoying yourself.

4. Reconnect with old friends or make new ones. This can be from the activity that you have chosen or from some other place but be around people who are either enjoying life or who are involved in charity work so that you can focus on others. This will remove your focus from yourself and your problems.

5. Take care of yourself. If you had stopped exercising get back into it. If you had stopped eating healthy and were into sweets, chocolates and other unhealthy comfort foods you need to wean yourself from them. Whatever negative habit you had picked up after the relationship went bust you need to slowly get yourself out off.

Letting go off a relationship is a process that involves a change in what you think about as well as how effectively you can get back into life without the constant baggage of your ex.
