While we wouldn't suggest passing on a great deal for a 2001 IS300
, we would suggest focusing on 2002 models and beyond. The 2001 models lack stability control and side curtain airbags. Less importantly, they lack a center armrest and auto-dimming mirrors. The optional full leather seating and the navigation system were not available until 2002 as well. Interestingly, despite all the noise by the American automotive media, IS300s with manual transmissions never sold well, and an enthusiast will have a difficult time finding one today.
