Lg Announces 5-inch Optimus Vu: The Beginning Of Big Smartphone Trend
In around just two decades of time, technology progressed beyond expectations to
offer more and more to mobile phone consumers and today a smartphone user enjoys most of the facilities that is available on a laptop. The coalition of internet technology and mobile communication has given a great impetus to the industry and quite a few very useful products to the consumer. The latest buzz created in the market are the big smartphones that lie somewhere between a normal smartphone and tablet. It is a perfect choice for the consumers who want to enjoy the features of a tablet on their smartphones. So far this had not been possible but now the 5-inch Optimus Vu smartphone from LG leaves nothing to crave for. With this a new trend of big smartphones has been initiated.
LG recently revealed some pictures and specs of this smartphone to show the world that the Korean giant is likely to introduce it. LG is all prepared to take the class of 5-inch smartphones further and give a tough competition to its arch rival Samsung and its flagship brand Samsung Galaxy Note.
Unmatched display, processor and storage capacity
This 5-inch gigantic device looks amazing with a rectangular shape and a design with a concept of curves. The first thing that will catch your attention is its 5-inch IPS (In-plane switching) LCD display that runs with a resolution of 1024-by-768 at a 4:3 aspect ratio. The dual core power of the processor and its processing ability remains at the top with 1.5-GHz Snapdragon CPU. Its in-built storage of 32 GB allows you to store all your favorite pictures, videos and apps. You will be taken aback to know that this is exactly double the storage capacity that the Samsung Galaxy Notes offers. However, LG is still thinking about whether they will provide a SD card slot or not.
The above stated features may definitely attract the consumers of tablets who are looking for a device with sleek design and light in weight. So far lot of consumers have shown interest in getting information about this large smartphone that indicates a mega shift in trend that is going in favor of the Optimus Vu.
Camera and Operating System
Optimus Vu carries a traditional set of cameras that is found in almost all the smartphones available today. It offers an eight megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera to enable video chatting and video conferencing. Currently, the Optimus Vu has been planned to be introduced with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) but it has been allegedly assured by LG that it will be upgraded to the latest Android version (4.0: Icecream Sandwich) within a few months of its release.
Battery performance
Optimus Vu measures 8.50-milimeter and will be shipped with a 2080 mAh battery that is almost equal to the power of the battery offered with the Samsung Galaxy Note. It is promised to deliver the talk time and stand by time equal to its competitor, Samsung Galaxy Note. Overall, it features a very impressive battery performance.
The important question that arises here is about the new trend cropping up with these larger smartphones. Are consumers really willing to get a smartphone that is larger in size with display size that is 5-inch or even more than that? Going by the opinion of industry experts it can be safely deduced that the new Optimus Vu is the harbinger of a new trend that is dedicated unequivocally to larger smartphones.
