Electronic cigarettes are the latest buzz among smokers these days

. As more research confirm the correlation between certain diseases and the habit of smoking, many smokers are beginning to consider quitting and shifting to a healthier lifestyle. In addition, the public and government clamor against smoking and its negative impact on human health and the environment has prompted legislation that greatly limits the areas or zones were public smoking is allowed. This means that in any given building or business establishment, people can smoke only in a few designated areas. Meanwhile, many countries around the world exact high prohibitive taxes from manufacturers and distributors in order to curb the spread of tobacco smoking, thereby protecting public health. It's a good thing that electronic cigarettes were invented by the Chinese pharmacist Lin Hok in 2003. Electronic cigarettes represent the ultimate answer to the dilemma faced by smokers and public health policy makers. In a nutshell, electronic cigarettes are designed to simulate the taste, feel, and experience of conventional tobacco smoking without exposing the "smoker" to the detrimental health impacts of smoking. In other words, electronic cigarettes allow smokers to continue "smoking" using a healthier, cleaner type of cigarettes.

Conventional tobacco cigarettes contain thousands of harmful chemicals, some of which are potentially fatal. These include carcinogens and known poisons such as carbon monoxide and arsenic. On the other hand, electronic cigarettes do not contain any of the harmful chemicals found in tobacco smoke. Instead, electronic cigarettes use a clever ingredient known as the e-liquid. The e-liquid is a mixture of water, food flavorings (which could be artificial, natural, and nature-identical), and either one of two harmless substances that are used to transform the e-liquid into its vapor form: vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol.

On top of being a healthier alternative to tobacco, the e-liquid comes in hundreds of different flavors that make electronic cigarettes a more exciting habit than traditional cigarette smoking. E-liquid flavors include apple, menthol, vodka, cola, cappuccino, and a host of traditional and exotic flavors. Many smokers who have shifted to electronic cigarettes claim that the e-liquid is a lot better than tobacco in terms of fullness, taste, and overall experience.

While delivering these benefits, e-liquid vapor does not leave the repulsive smell that is characteristic of tobacco smoke, such that users need not worry about their clothes retaining the stench of tobacco nor will they develop bad breath as a result of inhaling e-liquid vapor.
