Light Emitting Dioides In The Bathroom
Light emitting diodes, commonly called LEDs, are real unsung heroes in the vast world of electronics
.
The materials used for the LED have a direct band gap with energies corresponding to near-infrared, visible or near-ultraviolet light. Typical indicator LEDs are designed to operate with no more than 30 to 60 milliwatts [mW] of electrical power. A relatively new introduction in the world of LED lamps was Blue LEDs which are based on the wide band gap semiconductors GaN (gallium nitride) and InGaN (indium gallium nitride).
Thermal management of high-power LEDs is a very important factor in design of lighting equipment. The colour of an LED is determined by the semiconductor material, not by the colouring of the lighting itself (the plastic body). As well as a variety of colours, sizes and shapes, LEDs also vary in their viewing angle. . In fact you may wish to choose a greater resistor value to reduce the current (to increase battery life for example) but this will make the LED less bright.
The cathode is the short lead and there may be a slight flat on the body of round LEDs At first white LEDs were only possible by "rainbow" groups of three LEDs -- red, green, and blue -- by controlling the current to each to yield an overall white light. The cost savings of LEDs can be found in smaller wattage lamps or for applications that take advantage of their longevity, such as difficult to reach places. The LED power supply takes power from your outlet, converts it to 12V then feeds this to the wireless controller, then the wireless controller connects to your LED.
The Use of Bulbs
Because LEDs do not generate as much heat as incandescent bulbs, they are an energy-efficient technology to use in such applications such as freezers. One drawback of the existing LED bulbs is that they offer limited brightness, with the brightest bulbs equivalent to a 45-60 W incandescent bulb.
The long life of solid-state lighting products, expected to be about 50 times the most common incandescent bulbs, poses a problem for bulb makers, whose current customers buy frequent replacements. Led light bulbs in the down light section are available in various angles for down lights, cooking lights, bathroom lights, under cabinet lighting,. The super-efficient light source is the future of lighting, but so far, for most consumers the available LED bulbs have been too expensive and dimmer than the incandescent bulbs we're used to.
The use of light emitting diodes is now commonplace in our every day lives and it is easy to take them for granted. I feel that in this current climate of energy saving we will see more and more on the market and also see more traditional light bulbs being slowly replace. Undoubtedly we will also see a continued development in areas such as overall brightness.
