Light Stays Yoga Retreats Classes
I remember my first trip, backpacking around Europe with my girlfriends
. My 20-kilo backpack was jam packed full for the months of adventure we were about to embark on. Yes I had to sit ON my bag to get the zip closed we all did
I laugh now, wheels were not an option for us. We looked like teenage mutant ninja turtles walking, having to help each other up just to carry our clothes half never worn. We just didnt know any better.
Fast forward to today. Minimalist travel is a perfect metaphor for how life should be livedfree of unnecessary weight, carrying only what one truly needs.
Before your next journey make a list of essentials a few days before you depart. If in doubt 'throw it out'. Start by asking yourself how often will I need this? If I can use an item a few times each week it's coming.

Learn how to pack smart
Minimalist travel is not just about what you pack. Half of it is about how you pack.
Roll, rather than fold your clothes to avoid wrinkles and save space. Some clothes of course can't handle too much rolling and should just lie flat at the bottom of your suitcase. Jeans are heavy. If you really must take them, wear when flying.
Compartmentalize items (first-aid, toiletries, travel documents) into smaller bags. Put socks or even a bar of soap inside shoes. Maximize by using all your space.
Travel with your essentials...
I always take a sarong with me - its the most versatile piece of clothing. You can make into a body cover, halter dress, sheet, picnic mat or curtain.
Silk or polyester is crush-proof and will dry in a few hours. Love it.
To wheel or to backpack? The answer is in the stairs and terrain you'll be traveling on. Stairs and sand do not like wheels! A backpack with wheels is a versatile option. Glide it through crowded streets or pop on your back when taking an adventure.
Yoga RetreatsAs for laptops, Mac books are amazing. Weighing only a few kilos they can store your travel documents, scans of valuable files (credit card, visa, passport) plus maps and global online travel guides with events and workshops to make the most of your trip.
What keeps you traveling lightly?
