Light Up Your Outdoor Parties

With the summer months approaching and the weather gradually warming up

, many businesses will be planning outdoor events for the staff and clients. These may be in the form of staff parties, networking events, or even barbeques and garden parties for valued customers. Some premises may be fortunate enough to have their own large outdoor space which they can decorate for the occasion, whilst others may have to rent an area with a marquee. Any event will need careful planning, as it must have a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere to encourage guests to stay on into the evening.

The best way to achieve a party atmosphere is with good lighting. Fairy lights and festoon lights are a great way to decorate an outdoor space, and can be adapted to suit any location. Festoon lights can be particularly useful, as they are generally made up of larger bulbs strung together which can give out more light than fairy lights. Festoon lights can be found either in a long string of bulbs, or arranged in a garland style to provide a light source for a large area. They can look particularly festive when hung across outdoor dining areas or dance floors, and as night falls they will provide a soft glow.

Most festoon lights will come with coloured bulbs, which is a great way to add a party feel to any occasion. All good festoon lights should also come with attachments to hang them from, and these should be easy to fix to your desired corner points, such as trees or buildings. Coloured festoon lights have a very traditional carnival feel to them, and they will create a multicoloured swathe of light across any outdoor area you chose. Alternatively, it is possible to find clear or white bulbs, which can be used to create a more modern and stylish look, depending on the style of party you are hosting.

It is easy to use lighting in any outdoor space to draw people into the main area, and rigging up festoon lights above the main dance floor, seating area or space where people will mingle is a good way to show guests where they should congregate. As well as coloured lights to illuminate the main areas, smaller fairy lights can also look very pretty when strung amongst trees or around the edges of buildings. Coloured lights are a great way to add a touch of fun to any space, and coloured bulbs are great for installing into outdoor lamps for parties. Blank walls can look completely different with a wash of coloured light directed across them, and the colour you choose may be relevant to your company or event, or may just be a fun effect! Coloured bulbs can also look great placed amongst plants and bushes around the grounds in which the event is being held, and even underwater in ponds and fountains! Outdoor lighting is a great way to give an event a real sense of atmosphere , and will encourage guests to stay and enjoy themselves long after the sun has gone down!
