Americanrock band Linkin Parkreceived worldwide recognition following the release of their debut album,Hybrid Theory. The multi-platinum selling band's profile continued to soar with the release of their second album,Meteora. Meteora earned the band the number one spot in theBillboard200album chart.

The band was first created by high school buddies, Brad Delson and Mike Shinoda, with the intention of merging their favourite styles of music. The vocal interaction between bandmates Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda creates Linkin Park's unique sound. Shinoda raps and Bennington is lead vocalist. They first came out with a nu-metal sound but now their sound has evolved into a more mainstream sound.

Linkin Park has sold over 50 million albums worldwide. They have also picked up 2 Grammy Awards. Minutes to Midnight was released in 2007and it topped the Billboardcharts.Although the band has worked with many artists, the collaboration that bought the band much attention was their collaboration with rapper Jay Z. Perhaps a less know fact about Linkin Park is the fact that they have immersed themselves in much charity work. In 2004, they generously donated $75,000 to theSpecial Operations Warrior Foundation. In 2004 and 2005 they also raised money for victims ofHurricane Charley, and victims of hurricane Katrina. The list goes on but what's clear is that this band has heart.
