Advancements introduced the double cannula which was made up of two tubes; the outer one served to make sure that the entry point through the incision was secure while the inner one was moved back and forth to dissolve the fat.

Of course, the most contemporary method of liposuction is laser liposuction. It is performed with the use of "smart" laser that is able to tell the difference between fat cells and blood vessels
