Little Girls Bedroom: Lady Bug Theme Room
I love lady bugs and so do a lot of little girls
. Creating a lady bug themed room for your little girl will not be a daunting task as there are a ton of choices out there. But how do you keep it unique to your little girl? Well I do have a few ideas for room decor that you can make with her. But first you will need to find the perfect ladybug bedding and figure out if you want pink ladybugs or red ladybugs.
Once you have found her bedding, it's time to decorate. If you will be painting her room, choose one of the accent colors in the comforter or quilt. For example, if her quilt has a dominant color of pink with green, yellow, and white accents, choose a pale yellow, light green, or just paint the room white. That expensive bedding will really stand out by painting the room a different color. Now that the room is painted, you can start the fun stuff!
Personalize her room with her own art. Kids love to draw and this little project will keep her involved with the redecorating project. You just need to get three picture frames and matte finish photo paper. Have her draw two pictures on plain white paper using some of the colors in her room. Possibly one of a flower and one of a ladybug. Now, copy her pictures on your printer using the photo paper (this will keep the colors of her artwork vibrant for a longer period of time). Make two copies of the flower and one of the ladybug. Stick them in your frames and hang them on the wall with the ladybug in the middle. This is a cute way to keep her artwork and creates inexpensive, fun wall decor.
If your going to purchase window valances or drapes that match the bedding, you may want to look for some decor that have flowers on it so her room isn't overwhelmed by ladybugs. Here are a few suggestions - a shelf with flowers already on it, nylon flowers that will hang on the wall, or wall stickers. Or find another project you can do with your daughter at your local craft store.
One project I did with my little girl was decorate our own shelf. First I bought an unfinished wood shelf and spray painted it matte white. Then I had her get some colored pencils and draw a picture on the back of the shelf. When she was done with her drawing, I brushed some non-yellowing varnish over the whole shelf. (I don't recommend using the spray on polyurethane. It tends to make the colors from the pencils run. You can find the brush on varnish at your local craft store.) Our project turned out wonderful and my daughter is very proud of it.
You know your daughter will absolutely love her new lady bug room and best of all, with a little imagination, she can help with decorating too!
