As a volunteer for a charity for young children, I usually organise an event to raise money during Christmas. The charity raises money for young children with long term illness to fulfil their dreams and wishes. It's a wonderful charity and all the workers are very hard working and determined to accomplish each child's wish and dream.
Like every year I always volunteer to organize the fund raiser event for Christmas as all workers have a lot to do already. This year I am hoping to raise more than our target amount, which I think is never enough.
I don't have to worry about the venue as we always use the garden of the hospital where our charity donates the money. I have all my volunteers ready, who are my family members, I book them every year and they have no excuse not to help me.
The most important and worrying thing for me is what should I buy for all the children because we usually give the children charity Christmas presents. The other workers just buy all the girls the same and all the boys the same but I like to buy each child more personalised presents, rather than the same for all.
I like to spend time with individual child to find out what they like and dislike, what they asked Santa for and what little thing would make them happy. A little girl once said to me that a pretty pink lip gloss would really make her happy because wants to look beautiful at the charity event. It just broke my heart that such a little thing can make a child so happy.
