When determining the level of care that a patient needs, the hospital that is referring the patient consults with the patient (if possible) or their family members, and makes a decision regarding the level of care needed. Individuals who provide hourly home health aide services are typically paid on an hourly basis for their services, although differentials are given as incentives for working overnight or on weekends or holidays.
