Living With And Managing Type 2 Diabetes
In today's society, eighteen million American adults
, along with an alarmingly increasing number of American children have been diagnosed as having type 2 diabetes. This is not only due to their heredity, although there have been cases of diabetes occurring in families that have a history of it, but also because of the daily choices we make in our diet. In America today, eating fast foods and processed foods are directly a major cause of diabetes.
Now that we know what is contributing to this problem, what should we choose to do about it? The word 'choose' is a very important word. As a parent, we are not only responsible for our own diets but also for our children's diet and food choices. We need to teach our children from an early age how to eat a balanced diet, one that only allows fast food as a treat, not as a staple of the diet.
What are the symptoms of diabetes? One of the signs is diabetic weight gain. You can be gaining weight and becoming obese in just a few bites at a time. If your system cannot handle the sweets and fats that you are giving your body, it will rebel and you could become a victim of diabetes.
It can all start out very innocently. For some, eating some chocolate or drinking some soda for an energy boost at around 2:00 in the afternoon. When this behavior becomes habitual and you miss having a balanced diet, your actions start taking a toll on your body.
Managing Type 2 Diabetes is not as difficult as you might think. If your diabetes hasn't gotten to a point where you need shots to keep the blood sugar under control, you might be able to take care of it with your eating habits. You have to go on a strict diet, not a starving diet, but a balanced diet. No more binging and no more eating whatever you feel like eating.
If you ignore the doctor's orders and keep your bad eating habits, you'll have to pay the price. Diabetic Foot Problems are a very serious symptom of diabetes. When you are diabetic, your blood doesn't flow through all of your body as smooth as it used to. The doctor needs to know if you have injuries on your feet. There have been people with diabetes who found gang-green on their feet and had to have their feet amputated. So be very attentive to your diet and to any injuries to your feet if you are diagnosed as having type 2 diabetes.
