. Product based companies are selling their products all over the world. These products and services should be available in their local languages-if they want to raise their revenues in that particular region.
Products manufactured in one geological region are used all over the globe with different locale languages. Therefore, localization testing develops its market from globalized based business worldwide.
Globalization entails spreading a service or product all over the world and making them applicable in particular locale.
To localize software, it has to be first internationalized. Internationalization is the generalisation of the software product, so that it can handle multiple languages without the breakdown of its functionality. One important aspect of internationalization is the separation of text from source code.
Localization Testing:-
Localization testing determines the correctness of the software build into specific locale language. This examination is based on the consequence of globalized validation in which utilities and working system had been formerly scrutinized. If the application is not enough capable of performing in globalized validation, then it is not localized.
Localization is not rigid part of growth of software; it becomes attainable when the software is developed. Extent and intention of localization testing should be well-known before localizing the software.
Localization testing comprises of the translation of software interface and graphics illustrations acquired for specific locale. Sometimes primary setting is also altered to adjust the application to specific locale. Besides localization of software application, any assistance or help accompanied documents are also localized.
To localize any business solution requires implementation of accurate business methods and practices. Government and supervisory requirements determine the business methods and process for any particular culture or locale. Therefore, localization testing can be a massive task.
Localization testing of software requires the basic understanding of the particular locale language. Most of the product are localized from english to other languages, the reason being, most of the product are developed in United States of America or developed in other part of the world have their first version of software in english and use this english version to localize it into another locale language.
Good localized software helps the user to interact with the application in an easy way. User should be able to read all the information, tool tips and other relevant information.
Localization testing Services can be categorized in three different ways:-
a) Cosmetic testing: Cosmetic testing takes care of the visual inconsistency of the software. Visual errors like- text truncation, graphic and button inconsistency, etc. are involved in this type of testing.
b) Functional testing: In this type of testing, the tester deals with the functional related inconsistencies of the software. Basic areas that are tested in this field include menu functions, hot keys, localized input device functionality, regional default settings and core functionalities.
c) Linguistic Testing: Linguistic testing is the most important phenomenon in localization testing. Basic operations that are commonly tested for linguistics on the target platform include:
1.Spelling errors.
2.Translation inaccuracies.
3.Punctuation errors.
4.Missing Content.
