There seems to be a debate going on about which type of pavement to lay down namely interlocking pavements and other cheaper pavements

. So far, there seems to be two schools of thoughts that seems to advocate to different ideas. It is cheaper in the longer run as it needs little maintenance and no repairs whatsoever. If one is consider the one time cost, it is perhaps the cheapest as you would need regular repairs and regular maintenance of any other types of pavements in particular concrete or brick pavements.

As our Earth is in a constant perpetual movement due to which, the land mass also moves by perhaps millimeters every year, the interlocking pavements adjust to this rather than succumbing to the pressure and cracking altogether which is the case with other pavements.

It provides that room for creativity as well as you can quite literally create any design imaginable with a combination of different styles of driveway pavements and creating your own that would set you apart. This is in direct contradiction with other pavements which are dull and quite monotonous and offer little room for self expression.

The maintenance requires an annual cleaning of the pavements via a power pressure water pump which is quite basic and is relatively cheaper than the annual repairs of the cracks of other pavements.

The final decision ultimately rests with you altogether. At times, people simply go for other pavements due to their relative cheap cost but it is to take into account, that in terms of cost effectiveness, durability and indeed as far as that little room for self expression is concerned, these interlocking pavements are the best. It is no wonder that the Romans and the Italians in the renaissance stayed loyal to them and the streets of Rome and Milan are a living testament to their durability and aesthetic design.
