When it comes to accommodations, many people choose to stay in the cheapest places, without thinking that a night spent in an uncomfortable place can actually ruin your entire holiday. You want to be able to rest well, have a good breakfast and not spend all your money, so its better to be well-informed before making a choice.

As a general definition, hotels are buildings where people can find lodging, meals and other services. Most offer rooms with modern facilities, such as television and telephone connectivity, room service or minibars. The more expensive ones can also benefit from additional features, such as playgrounds, childcare services, gyms or indoor swimming pools. The cost in staying in such an establishment can rise to quite an amount of money, depending on the duration of your stay and the hotels rating.

On the contrary, inns are little cheapish places that offer housing and food for a small number of days. They are an important part of European traveling history, being possibly the oldest type of accommodation around. One can find references to this type of place in many historic documents from up to two thousand years ago.

One of the obvious differences between inns and hotels is that the latter have a universal rating system, consisting in stars, while the former do not. There is also a dissimilarity in location, because inns can be found on highways or generally in the countryside, while hotels are situated in cities and resorts.

In conclusion, you should know that there is no "perfect" choice when it comes to housing. The best option is the one that makes you happy and satisfies most of your needs and preferences. If youre looking for a cheaper place close to the highway, inns are the way to go; however, if youd rather spend a larger amount of money and be more comfortable, your best bet is a hotel.
