There are two main options offered by most plastic surgeons and women are normally given information about both.

The two main options in breast implants is silicone filled or saline filled. Of the two options, saline filled ones are usually considered the safer choice. The reason for this is because saline is a solution that will not harm the body. If the implant is punctured or breaks, the saline will leak into the body and it will not cause any harm because of its nature. Silicone types have been used for longer periods of time, but there were laws put in place that prevented their use for a certain period. These implants were not considered to be safe; however, changes have been made and they are now being used once again.

Another option you will have when you choose breast implants is their shape. There are two main options for the shape-- round or contoured. The main choice differs between whether you want natural shaped ones or round ones. A woman's breasts are naturally in the shape of a teardrop and these are considered contoured shaped. The other option is round. While this option will create very full looking breasts, they do not provide a natural looking shape.

The other decision you will have to make is the size. If you are normally an "A" cup, you might not want to make this surgery too obvious by jumping up to a "D" cup. Instead, you might choose a full "B" sized cup or even a "C." The choice is always up to you though, and if you want to jump up five sizes, the doctor will do that for you. Once you make all of these decisions and decide to have this done, an appointment will be set for you. This is an outpatient procedure, but it may take several hours to complete.

The doctor will have to make incisions for the implants and these will have to be stitched up. These incisions are usually made in the crease below the breasts because this is the least visible place for them after they have healed. It will take several weeks to several months for the healing to fully take place. After a few months, your breast implants will look and feel the way that you hoped for, and you can be more confident about the way you look.
