True to the name, the continent is known for the snow and ice. Characters may decide to enter Northrend through any number of places and the continent itself can be accessed thru howling Fjord, Valgarde, Borean Tundra and Valiance Keep.

Another significant addition that was made to the game by the Wrath of the Lich King was the creating of the game's first hero class, the death knight. Death knights can only be created if you have got a personality that's level fifty five or higher on the server, and they themselves begin the game at level fifty five. Death knights were previous heroes of the war against Arthus Menenthil, the Lich King, and when they fell, Arthus resurrected them so they would fight for him. The death knights begin the game as soulless minions for the Lich King and must find their way towards redemption. They're strong tanks and damage dealers.

Another notable addition that was made in this enlargement was the new profession of inscription. Inscription is a profession where the personality will create scrolls, vellum, glyphs and other paper items that will help the character progress through the game. These things are used to enhance an ability or item, and you'll learn the effects you can wield through this new profession can significantly reinforce the way that your game is played.
