The internet makes it very obtainable to look at a gymnastics video
. If you miss watching your favorite US Women's Gymnastics on television you can most than likely locate the video from several different area's on the internet. I remember in 1984 Mary Lou Retton was competing and the evening that she took the gold, I was at the hospital giving birth to my oldest son. I asked for a television in the room but this alerted the nurse. For some reason she believed that I wasn't in enough pain if I was pleading to watch the Olympics. I guess she just didn't guessed how mandatory this was to me and that I was able to multitask.Give birth and cheer Mary Lou on at the same time.
Although I'm extremely blessed to have baby son, it has always irritated me that I didn't get to watch Mary Lou score all those perfect 10's and get the golds for participating in the Games. She won the first all around competition. Today I can go to my favorite locations and see the gymnastics video that I didn't get to see. I also have a fantastic story to tell my youngest son. What took place on the evening he was born.Through out the decades of working and raising a family I have missed several US Woman's Gymnastics competitions. I am able to catch up and watch some of my favorite gymnastics video at my time when I'm able or if I'm just feeling sentimental and need to walk back into yesterday and see again some of those wonderful times of history for women.
After two back surgeries, I am no longer able to do just a simple handspring. My 4 year old daughter is willing to learn as much as she can about gymnastics. I sit down with her and we watch a gymnastics video on the internet and she is capable to observe the gymnast doing their routines and how exciting it was for women especially in the 70's when gymnastics was the talk of the World. Thanks to a young woman at the moment of the name of Cathy Rigby. I'm so appreciative that I can sit here and share these exciting moments with my granddaughter and watch her joy and enthusiasm asshe observes and then attempts to do the gymnastics herself.
