There are a number of amusement parks near Niagara Falls that open during the busy summer season
. Even though none of the parks are directly at the falls, they are close by for an afternoon or day of fun! Cotton candy, thrilling rides and the falls nearby is the perfect family vacation you can plan this summer. Here are a few of these fantastic amusement parks that are a must visit if you are visiting the Niagara Falls.
Marineland
This is a smaller version of the Sea World but it is wide spread. You will find a combination of rides and aquariums at this amusement park. Most of the design is basically for families with very young children with several shows that run on a rotation basis. The main animal headlines are grabbed by the Beluga Whales and Killer Whales here! You can see these real close up and even pet them. If you happen to catch one of the shows, you will see sea lions, dolphins and walruses. This amusement park also features a pond where you can feed the fish and a place where you can meet land animals like bears and deer.
Some of the more mentionable rides at this superb park include the world's largest steel coaster that is laid over an area of 30 acres. The tower ride is so positioned that if you were viewing Horseshoe falls, you would see it in the distance. Get the thrill of being propelled upwards at 60 mph on this ride! This is very different from a Sea World or Disneyland for the area is huge and rides are not packed together.
Martin's Fantasy Island
Fantasy Island on Grand Island is a small amusement park packed with everything for a fun filled family outing. A few large rides and a number of smaller ones, a zoo where you can pet animals, a traditional themed park and a small water park make up this interesting park. The silver comet is a major attraction at this amusement park and this wooden roller coaster takes up much of the skyline! Check out spinning rides, bumper cars, train rides and several show areas including a Wild West shootout. The water park features slides, a lazy river and a wave pool. The admission to this amusement park is pretty low at $25 and kids really enjoy here especially with the canoes that have aquatic training wheels so they can pedal without any fears!
Six Flags Darien Lake
About 50 miles from the falls, this amusement park is a vacation destination in itself. Begun in 1964 as a camping ground, it became a full fledged amusement park in 1982. Darien Lake is known for its amazing roller coaster rides. You can also enjoy the churning and spinning devices, several eating joints, raft ride and gift shops. An on site water park is also an attraction.
If you are planning to visit the Niagara Falls, make sure you also check out any of the amusement parks nearby for that ultimate vacation!
