Being a rare and precious metal, one would wonder why so many have not gone out looking for gold

. Truth is they have, but being rare means it's not easily found. Finding, or rather, prospecting for gold is a science. It's a task that needs skill and patience- a lot of it. Gold deposits do not exactly stand out, which is why so many have still not been discovered. The earth does not hold back when it comes to handing out this precious metal since there are so many deposits around the world.

Gold prospecting has many approaches- and some of these are determined by the amount of money you are putting into them. When you only put in so little, you can't really expect to find so much, can you? The financial factor is of most importance, simply because it can determine the kind of deposit you stumble upon. But there are exceptions of course.

You don't have to go getting expensive equipment first because prospecting comes first. You have to find the deposit of gold, before you throw money at it. If you don't have much of it, you can rely on a metal detector. It's not hi-tech, but it is effective. Many a prospector has struck gold with this simple device. But it has its limitations since it can't detect deeper than a couple of feet.

Though you can collect a few nuggets each day from the procedure, it's not enough to make you a fortune. Rather, for visionary prospectors, it is used as a means of getting to the source. On several occasions, prospectors have found a deposit by panning their way to it.

Hardrock deposits of gold are not easiest to find, but they are most rewarding. Since the prospecting methods are usually more sophisticated- with geological considerations and geochemical assays to be done, a financial backing is necessary. The tidings are more than just good, since stumbling upon a deposit of gold would assure you a good financial future.

The main reason for prospecting is to find gold- but it's not the only one. It comes with an adventure that makes everyday a different day. Spending time in the great outdoors is rewarding in its own way. The uncertainty brings suspense, so there is always the hope that builds up of being successful eventually. It may not come for many months, but the day that it does brings with it a new life for you
