It is built on the Storm phone that did not have a keyboard. However, the new device runs on the improved BlackBerry 7.0 OS. The BlackBerry 9860 price is not clear at the moment, although it is expected to come out in the near future. The Smartphone has a 1.2GHz processor and 768MB of RAM. The large screen has a 480 x 800 pixels resolution, but this is lower than what is found on the Apple iPhone 4. The BlackBerry 9860 has a camera of 5 megapixels and has the ability to record videos. The device does not have a front facing camera that is used to make video calls, as is common in the iPhone.

Features that you will find on the front of the device beside the 3.7 inch screen are a light sensor found at the top and a speaker grille. There is also an optical track pad that has four buttons and is situated at the base of the phone. When compared to the iPhone, the BlackBerry 9860 falls short in other areas, like its thickness which is more than that of the iPhone. Its battery too has a life lower than that of the iPhone, while its internal storage capacity is only 4GB. Though the new phone has made improvements on the previous models of the BlackBerry, it is just an attempt to catch up with the more advanced iPhone. Whether it will succeed in this endeavor will only be proved in the fullness of time.

Though it still falls short of the iPhone, the new BlackBerry still gives you some features that you can enjoy while using this latest BlackBerry technology. Previous BlackBerry phones, like the BlackBerry Torch 9810, lacked features so, by buying this new gadget, you will be upgrading to the new technology that is dominating the world of Smart phones. This may not be the last improvement you will see from BlackBerry as it fights for its place alongside the iPhone.
