Nibble as you walk around, then bring some back for a simple but abundant feast you can make in your own room.

While the shopping centres may be calling your name, try to locate some of the smaller boutiques all over the city and suburbs that often feature young New Zealand designers selling at very reasonable rates. You might even be lucky enough to find a sale and pick up some real bargains.

Of course taking time to sit outside a cafe enjoying a flat white or latte in the sunlight is another really simple gem of taking a holiday in this city. Enjoy unwinding with the sun on your back, warming you and helping you get ready for sleep in the motels in Auckland you've booked into.
