Tens of thousands of migrant workers will take UK jobs depite a limit having been introduced.A yearly cap will come into force in April 2011.However the limit will not be applied to any foreign employee who is already in Britain.This will also apply even if they leave their employment and change their visas.Employers wlll still be able to bring in foreign staff who earn less than a planned salary cap as long as they are rotated each year.The new system will provide for those who have key skills and where a shortage exists of British workers to allow them to work in Britain.The effectiveness of the new rules are rather doubtfull as the immigration watchdog has warned that officials are not dealing correctly with migrant workers who no longer have the entitlement to remain in the UK.The government have stated that there will be an annual cap of 21,700 starting from April 2011 for workers from outside of the EU.A quota of 4,200 will be available for April with one thousand five hundred each month after that.It is understood,however that a migrant employee who already has the right to remain wiil be exempt from the limit even when they come to renew their work permit or change employment.There will be no restriction in respect of lawyers,bankers and those who are lucky enough to be earning more than 150K per annum.Only those who earn in excess of 40,000 per annum will be allowed to remain in the UK for up to some five years.This is very good news as the previous Labour government of which the new leader Ed Miliband was a cabinet member made great claims about creating jobs but these went to foreign workers.
